Aloo Gobi Recipe

Aloo gobi recipe is a delicious recipe that you can serve as a starter, appetizer or as a side dish with fried rice. Made from simple ingredients, the procedure is also easy to make. Other appetizers include gobi manchurian, baby corn manchurian, paneer tikka, aloo pakora and so on. Many non-vegetarian options are also available in the Indian cuisine for starters or appetizers.

The ingredients for this recipe are simple and less in number. Cauliflower, potatoes, red chilly powder, coriander powder, turmeric powder, oil and salt are the ingredients required. Gather these and you are ready to make the scrumptious Punjabi aloo gobi.

Preparation Methods

First, choose a cauliflower with creamy white florets. Trim the leaves and stem. Chop the cauliflower into separate florets. Rinse and soak in warm water for few minutes. You can add a pinch of turmeric powder to the warm water. This ensures the cauliflower florets are clean before cooking. Meanwhile, wash the potatoes, peel the skin, chop them into lengthy slices, and pat them dry.

Now, heat oil or ghee in a pan and roast the sliced potatoes for few seconds. Add the rinsed and soaked cauliflower florets to the pan and roast until they obtain golden brown color. Add the spice ingredients such as red chilly powder, coriander seeds powder, turmeric powder and the required amount of salt with the mixture. Blend all the ingredients well by stirring for few seconds, and then cover the pan with a lid. Allow to cook for few minutes in low flame. Once the vegetables are well cooked and crispy in texture, remove from the flame and sprinkle finely chopped coriander leaves. Delicious aloo gobi is ready. Serve hot as an appetizer or along with vegetable fried rice.

Aloo gobi is the Famous Punjabi style dry dish which is best to have with any type of mixed rice varieties and also good with roti or chapathi.

  • Cauliflower Florets - 1 Cup
  • Potato - 2 Nos.
  • Red Chilly Powder - 3/4 Tbsp
  • Coriander Powder - 3/4 Tbsp
  • Turmeric Powder - 1/4 Tbsp
  • Salt - 1/2 Tbsp
  • Oil - 2 Tbsp
  • Coriander Leaves - 1/4 Tbsp

Rinse well the cauliflower florets and soak them in warm water for few seconds.

Wash some potatoes, peel off the skin and slice them into long thin slices, pat dry them.

Heat a frying pan, add some oil or ghee into it and add the sliced potatoes. Roast them for few seconds.

Then add the soaked and drained cauliflower florets with them and roast them well for few seconds until the light brown color comes.
