Bhindi Fry Recipe

Bhindi Fry Recipe makes an excellent combination with many vegetarian curry varieties and rice. The nutritious content combined with the Indian spices make this recipe a favorite among many. Other such recipes include gobi fry, bitterguard fry, brinjal fry and so on.

First, wash the okra and allow it to dry naturally. You can also use kitchen cloth or tissue for this purpose. Chop off both the edges of okra. Now, you can fine chop the okra, or into any shape that you desire.

Preparation Methods

Next, fine chop the onions and tomatoes. Slice or split the green chilies lengthwise. Heat oil in a pan and add the chopped okra into it. Roast until the veggies turn light brown in color. Ensure that the stickiness of the okra is gone and then remove them and keep it aside. Now, heat oil in the pan and add cumin seeds and the sliced green chilies. Add the chopped onion to it and sauté them. Further, add the ginger garlic paste and sauté until the raw smell goes. Add the finely chopped tomatoes to the above ingredients and stir until it gets mushy. Then, add the spice powder ingredients such as red chili powder, cumin seeds powder, dry mango powder and the requisite salt.

Now, add the already roasted okra into the above mixture and stir well. Cover with the lid and allow cooking in low to medium flame. Keep stirring occasionally to avoid burning the okra. Once the okra is cooked, add kasuri methi, which gives an amazing and aromatic flavor to the recipe. Finally, garnish with chopped coriander leaves and serve hot. You can serve this delicious okra fry with dal, roti, sambhar rice or rasam rice.

Ingredients

  • Okra Veggie - 1 Cup
  • Onion - 1 No.
  • Tomato - 1 No.
  • Ginger Garlic Paste - 1/2 Tbsp
  • Green Chilly - 1 No.
  • Cumin Seeds - 1/2 Tbsp
  • Oil - 2 Tbsp
  • Salt - 1/2 Tbsp
  • Kasuri Methi - 1/2 Tbsp
  • Coriander Leaves - 1/2 Tbsp
  • Red Chilly Powder - 1/2 Tbsp
  • Dry Mango Powder - 1/2 Tbsp
  • Cumin Powder - 1/4 Tbsp

Method

Step 1

Wash the fresh okra in water and dry the veggie in kitchen cloth or dried it naturally.

Chop the okra by removing the head and tail portion and chop as fine pieces or any desired shape.

Fine chop one onion and one ripen tomato, slice one green chilly lengthwise.

Heat a pan, add half tablespoon of oil and add the chopped okra veggie into them.

Roast well the okra until it gets light brown color and the stickiness completely goes out. Then remove from pan and keep aside.

Heat a pan and add one tablespoon of oil then splutters some cumin seeds and add one green chilly with them.

Then add fine chopped onion slices with them and sauté for few seconds until it gets its light golden brown color.

Then add one tablespoon of ginger garlic paste into them and sauté well until the raw smells leaves.

Then add fine chopped tomatoes and stir well for few seconds until it gets mushy.

Then add all the spice powder ingredients such as red chilly powder, cumin seeds powder, dry mango powder and enough salt with them.

Then add the roasted okra veggie with them and stir well until it mixes.

Cover the lid and keep in medium flame, keep on stirring to prevent from bottom burning.

When the okra is well cooked now add half tablespoon of kasuri methi, which gives the amazing flavor to this recipe.

Finally garnish with some coriander leaves and serve hot with roti, dal, or rasam rice recipes.
