Healthy Bottle Gourd roti recipe
Roti is possibly one of the most popular flat breads that is consumed in India with almost every family incorporating rotis in their daily meals. While it may not be rich in flavour or taste, rotis are known to carry plenty of health benefits along with them. Also known as chapatis. Rotis are made from whole grain and are therefore, easy to digest preventing constipation. Rotis are also very nutritious and are also fairly low on calories thus, preventing needless weight gain. Another healthy vegetable is the bottle gourd which is also an excellent digestive source of food. In India, many people considers the bottle gourd roti or lauki ki roti as a great healthy food.
Lauki roti tastes good despite being a very basic dish. The preparation time is minimal and level of cooking experience required to prepare lauki paratha (or roti) is basic. Lauki ki roti, also known as sorakkai roti makes for an excellent vegetarian dish and since it provides many necessary nutrients without overfilling or causing bloating, it is a great recipe to include in a daily diet.
We can have this bottle gourd flat bread with many side dishes and pickles such as raita, mango pickle, lime pickle, or even with garlic pickle. In order to enrich the taste add basic ingredients such as ginger paste or green chili paste. We can also use this Bottle gourd (lauki) to prepare many other Indian dishes. We can also use this lauki for making lauki kheer and lauki halwa. Both sweet dishes serves as desserts or even for making chana dal curry, lauki sabzi and lauki kofta. There are countless benefits that one can reap from eating rotis and bottle gourd and the best part is that they can be prepared in many different ways to suit each individual’s taste.
- Grated Bottle Gourd - 1 Cup
- Rice Flour - 1/2 Cup
- Salt as per taste
- Green Chili Paste - 1/2 Tbsp
- Ginger Paste - 1/2 Tbsp
- Oil - 2 Tbsp
- Cumin Seeds - 1/4 Tbsp
Peel bottle gourd skin. Then grated them well into fine pieces using grater.
In a mixing bowl, Add 1/2 cup of rice flour, salt to taste and mix them well.
Then add 1/4 tbsp of cumin seeds to rice flour.
After that add 1/2 tbsp of green chili paste and 1/2 tbsp of ginger paste to the bowl and mix them well with the rice flour.
Then add grapped bottle gourd into it and mix them well.
Remember, don't add water to the mixture. Without water mix well the ingredients as the bottle gourd water is well sufficient for mixing this and make it a fine dough.
Take a pan pour 2 tbsp of oil and heat for some time in a medium flame.
Then take a cover and some dough and spread it all over to form a round shape roti in order to fry.
When the pan is heated put prepared roati on the pan and add some oil to fry.
When one side is fried to golden brown in colour turn to other side and make it fry that side too. Now, the Bottle Gourd roti is ready to serve.
