Potato chips are the favourite option for mid-time snacks.Chips are highly appreciated across the globe. From continental cuisines to the traditional Indian recipes potato chips are served everywhere. The crunchy texture of the chips makes you feel eating them again and again. Potato is also a healthier choice for snacks. Though it is said frying potato is not considered so healthy but it is a better choice comparatively. Treating yourself with chips at snacks time is a happiest moment.
Nowadays many considers potato as one of the most common food source available in any region of planet. Potato offers many health benefits and it is a staple ingredient in many cuisines. Potatoes can help you treating many health issues such as reducing cholesterol level, improves digestion, improves heart health, prevents cancer, strengthens immunity systems and so on. Many individuals love potatoes especially children. So if your child refuses to eat other vegetables you can include potatoes into their diet. The different ways for preparing potatoes are by frying, baking, boiling, mashing and so on. We can prepare thousands of recipes using potato. Also, the most common recipe using potatoes is potato chips.
Potato chips are a major part of Indian cuisine. It mostly serves as a side dish or as a snack with cold drinks. Eating potato chips with cold drinks is a popular trend while watching cinema. In south India potato chips are also known as potato vadam or urulaizhangu vathal. Chips best accompanies with sambar rice, curd rice, rasam and dal. It is an easiest and quickest recipe that takes hardly 30 minutes of time for preparation and 10 minutes for cooking.
- Potato - 3 large
- Water - to immersing potato
- Salt - 2 Tbsp
- Red Chili Powder - 2 Tbsp
- Oil - For deep fry
Take uniform size potatoes, Wash with water. Scrub the potato thoroughly to remove the sand impurities.
Slice the potato by using slicer or mandoline.
Roll boil the water in wide bowl. To immerse the potato slices. Approximately 1-2 bowl.
Carefully add the sliced potato to the boiled water.
Add a spoon of salt to the boiling water. And make this boil for 5 minutes.
Close the pan with appropriate lid.
Switch off the stove and make potato slices immerse for 10 minutes.
Drain potato from water, and spread the potato slice in White cotton Cloth as i shown in the image. Sun dry the potato slices till they are dry completely.
When both the sides are dry completely, store it in airtight container. Fry the chips and sprinkle some salt and red chili powder before serving. Now the heathy and tasty Potato chips are ready to serve.
