Kala chana chaat recipe is a nourishing snack or appetizer that can be prepared effortlessly at home. Chaat recipes are a favorite across regions. Have to soak the black Bengal gram in water for eight hours,or over a night will do.Pressure cook the chana and allow four to five whistles. Allow the steam to escape and drain the excess water.  you can prepare the vegetables. Finely chop the onion, tomato, green chillies, raw mango and coriander leaves.

Now, take a large mixing bowl, mix the boiled chana and chopped onions and mix well with a spoon. Add the chopped tomatoes and raw mango to the mixture. After this, sprinkle the required salt, cumin powder, red chilly powder, chaat masala. Adding to few drops of lemon juice. Now, mix all the ingredients well. You can cover the bowl with a lid and shake to obtain a balanced flavor. Garnish the chana chaat with gram flour sev and finely chopped coriander leaves and there you are – the heavenly chana chaat is ready.

Ingredients

  • Black Chana Dal - 1 Cup
  • Onion - 1 No.
  • Tomato - 1 No.
  • Green Chilly - 1 No.
  • Raw Mango - 1/2 No.
  • Coriander Leaves - 1/2 Tbsp
  • Gram Flour Sev - 2 Tbsp
  • Lime Juice - 1/2 Tbsp
  • Red Chilly Powder - 1/2 Tbsp
  • Chaat Masala - 1/2 Tbsp
  • Cumin Powder - 1/4 Tbsp
  • Salt - 1/2 Tbsp

Method

Step 1

Rinse and soak whole black Bengal Gram in water for eight hours or for whole night.

Wash and chop the veggies such as onion, tomatoes, raw mango, green chilly and coriander leaves as fine as possible.

Take a large mixing bowl add the pressure-cooked and drained whole black gram.

Add the finely chopped onion slices and fine chopped green chilies with them, mix well using a spoon.

Then add finely sliced tomatoes and fine sliced raw mango slices into the bowl and mix well.

Next, add all the spice powders such as red chilly powder, cumin powder and some chaat masala powder. Add enough salt for the mixture.

Then add few drops of lime juice into the bowl, cover with lid and shake well until all the ingredients are mixed together.

Finally sprinkle some gram flour sev and finely chopped coriander leaves for garnishing and serve.
