Palak Khichdi is known by many other names like spinach Khichdi, Palak Ka Saag, Palak Dal, Moong Dal Palak, Dal Palak, etc.
Cooking Palak Khichdi requires intermediate cooking skills. Palak recipes takes around 30 minutes of time. This preparation is mainly served as Main Course for lunch or dinner. Palak Ka Saag is best eaten with Lime Pickle, Raita, Mango Pickle, Garlic Pickle, etc. Palak khichdi just like any other Khichdi is easy to digest. For this reason it is good for kids and toddlers. Dal consists of Vitamins and proteins too. The other ingredients of this recipe include Rice potato, Potato, Tomato, Ginger, Cumin Seeds, Mustard Seeds, Green Chillies and Turmeric Powder. - Palak - 1 Cup
- Green Gram - 1/2 Tbsp
- Rice - 1 cup
- Medium size Potato - 1 no.
- Medium size Tomato - 1 no.
- Crushed Ginger - 2 Tbsp
- Cumin Seeds - 1/2 Tbsp
- Mustard Seeds - 1/2 Tbsp
- Green Chili - 5-6 Nos.
- Turmeric Powder - 1/2 Tbsp
- Chopped Coriander Leaves - 1/4 Cup
- Water - 2 Cup
- Ghee - 2-3 Tbsp
- Oil - 2 Tbsp
Take 1 cup of chopped palak leaves and be ready with all the vegetables that are used in this recipe.
Soak 1 cup of rice and 1/2 cup of green gram pulse in water for above 30 minutes.
Heat oil in a pan, add 1/2 spoon of cumin and mustard seeds, made it fry.
Add palak leaves and green chilies, stir fry it in a medium flame.
When the palak is fried well add 1/2 cup of potatoes and tomatoes. Cook for few minutes.
Add pinch of turmeric powder and crushed ginger, mix well.
Now add salt as per taste, while stirring occasionally.
Add 2 cups of water to the fried vegetables and cook for about 2 to 3 minutes.
Once the water is boiled well, then add soaked rice and green gram pulse to the mixture.
Once dal cooked and blend with palak leaves and rice. Finely add coriander leaves and some ghee to the kichidi before put off the stove. Take into the serving bowl. Serve with lemon piece.
